Comics Experience Writers' Workshop

We're pretty excited here at Panda Dog Press about a new community being launched by Andy Schmidt over at Comics Experience. It's called the Comics Experience Writers Workshop.

In fact, we're so excited about it that Panda Dog Press founder, Rob Anderson, actually has joined the staff over at Comics Experience -- as Moderator of this new workshop -- so that he can be up to his eyeballs in the fun. If you don't believe us, then just check out the Comics Experience About Us page...

So, what is the CE Writers' Workshop? Well, it's a brand new, members-only forum for comic book writers who are serious about improving, breaking in, and getting published. Members of the community post scripts, pitches, and outlines -- and then "workshop" the stories via critiques and feedback from other members. This sort of workshop approach to improving your writing has been used for decades in everything from prose fiction (sci fi, horror, etc.) to poetry. Now, Andy is bringing that highly effective approach to comic books.

But, as you would expect, Comics Experience is kicking it up a notch from that. Every month, Andy (former Marvel Editor, current Senior Editor at IDW) is going to hold a live, online session where he critiques one of the posted scripts, for the benefit of the author and the whole workshop. He'll then follow that up with a live Q&A for workshop members, answering any questions folks have about breaking in, writing, editing, or the comics industry as a whole.

And on top of that, every month another professional editor or writer will come in as a guest, select one of the posted scripts, and do a written critique of that script for the benefit of the whole workshop.

Plus, there will be regular writing challenges to help everyone stretch their storytelling muscles...and much more on the on-going, members-only forums.

You don't have to be a Comics Experience alumnus to join -- you just have to be interested in growing as a comic book writer.

If you're looking to take your writing to the next level, pop over to Comics Experience and check out the CE Writers' Workshop!
